  • Key in 1-6 figure (s) personal code and the keyless entry within 30 seconds and press/release the ENTER button. The OK button will blink and beep twice and indicator for successful storage of the code.

Why is My Xtreme Garage Door Opener not Working

The following are the reasons why your garage door opener isn’t working;

1. A blocked photo-eye

 When someone or object is in the doorway, the eye senses send the laser beam across the length of the garage door and opens it.

  • Examine the state of the wires connected to the photo-eye and replace them if necessary.
  • Clean the photo-eye lens with a microfiber cloth to remove any dust.

2. The door may be off track and fail to move.

  • Unplug the garage door opener from power. Then, lift the garage door to confirm if it’s rolling well on the track.
  • Examine the track for any gaps, bumps, and obstructions.
  • As you move the door, be keen to note any squeaks or other faulty noises.
  • Loosen the fasteners and attach the track to its frame. Kindly tap on the track gently to its position with a rubber mallet.
  • Get rid of any obstructions on the track.

3. Power source disrupted

  • Ensure the switch is on.
  • If the switch fails, make sure the wall socket is working. Then, check the circuit breaker and fuse. Finally, check if the current is passing using a multimeter; if it’s not, the socket may be damaged and requires replacement.

4. Broken garage door torsion springs

If the door has broken springs, don’t even try to open it as it is hazardous. Instead, call the technician for repair.

5. Door cables have snapped or popped off.

When the spring torsions break, the door cables will also snap. The wires can cause damage to the wall or vehicle or even harm someone who is around. Call a qualified technician to help you.

6. The door sensitivity is out of adjustment

With the sensitivity set too high or too low, the door will not open. Check the manufacturer’s instructions and readjust the sensitivity. You can change the close force and limit switch to the correct levels.

7. Remote may be malfunctioning.

  • If your garage door fails to open with the remote, there are a few things that can cause it;
  • The remote might be out of range.
  • The motor’s antenna could be damaged or blocked from the signal. Ensure it’s hanging down from the engine.
  • If the door opens with the wall controller, it’s a simple issue of dead batteries.
  • Try reprogramming your remote.

8. Limit setting requires adjustment.

Adjustments are necessary if the door closes and immediately opens again. First, you need to check the limit settings to determine how far to move the door close. If the settings are unreasonable, the door will hit the ground; it assumes it has hit an obstacle and backtracks to avoid damage. Next, check the owner’s manual or the buttons on the motor to make the adjustments.

  • Use a ladder and locate the limit switch adjustment button.
  • If the opener fails to close or open, fix it down or adjust it up accordingly.
  • Ensure you make minimal adjustments to avoid exaggerating it and make the door bang shut or open.

9. There is an obstacle.

Garage doors will always reverse if they touch an obstacle. The door will close halfway and later reverse, a sign that something is hindering it from closing. Check the tracks for dirt, rocks, trash, or other debris. Give the tracks a wipe-down to remove anything on the way.

10. The door is locked

If the engine is on, but the door fails to open, then it might be locked. Find the locking handle and use it to disengage the lock.

How Do You Know if Your Xtreme Garage Door Opener Sensors are Bad?

There are some signs you may notice on your sensors and know that they are faulty. You can troubleshoot the sensors to identify the cause and fix it if you can. These signs include;

  • Light indicators–  check the LED light blinks as you close the door. Greenlight means the sensors are working, and red lights indicate the sensors aren’t aligned. You should check the bracket or tighten a screw on the flashing sensor to fix the issue.
  • Dirty lenses– this requires cleaning with a lint-free cloth. The dirt blocks the view of the sensors; thus, cleaning helps them to operate well.
  • Damaged wires– the wires connecting the sensors may undergo wear and tear, which affects the sensors’ performance. If you notice wires with marks or other signs of tampering, replace them.

Why Won’t my Xtreme Garage Door Opener Go Down

  • The sensors may be dirty- clean them well.
  • Sensor’s misalignments – realign them by loosening a knob or simply pushing against the metal bracket holding it.
  • There are loose wires at the sensors or the motorhead- ensure you fasten the wires connections securely.
  • Try unplugging or re-plugging the garage door opener into the outlet; this acts as a reset, especially to the sensors.

Opener Does not Respond to Transmitter

  • The transmitter may have a dead battery, so you need to check and replace it.
  • Ensure you are pressing the button within the range.
  • If all the steps above fail, try reprogramming the remote.

Opener Stops Before Reaching Full Open/Close Position

  • The travel limit isn’t correctly adjusted. Carry out both open and close adjustments as explained above, then do a safety reverse test.
  • There may be an obstruction that sets off a sensor, so you need to clear anything from the way.
  • The sensors may be out of alignment to confirm this check if the lights on both sensors are lit.
  •  Check the opener; using the manual reset, the up-force, and the down-force.

Why Xtreme Garage Door Opens by Itself

The following may be possible causes for your door to open by itself;

  1. Electrical short in the system could be in the circuit board, remote, wall, or button.
  2. Defective remotes or one with worn-out batteries can send out random signals.
  3. Interference from police radios, radio stations, towers near your house can disrupt the signal.
  4. If you have stored your spare remote in a drawer, items could accidentally press the button.
  5. If you live around the military base, electrical equipment could operate on the same frequency as your opener.
  6. During a thunderstorm, an electrical surge can damage the electrical elements and cause it open randomly.

Solutions

  • Turn off the fuse or breaker on your electrical panel connected to the door opener. Examine the wall switch and opener wiring for damage; if there is none, the opener needs replacement.
  • Check out for a stuck button on your remote or wall switch. Look at the opener for any flashing light next to the learn button; it indicates a stuck button. Test all the remotes and replace the faulty ones.
  • Try changing the code on the remote, then change the opener code to match the one you set on the remote.

Garage Door Reverses Before Hitting the Floor

The two problems that can lead to a garage door reversing before even touching the ground.

  • Close-force isn’t well adjusted- this is the pressure that allows the door to go down before the motor switches off. Adjust the force for the opener to operate.
  • A damaged or rusted roller can fool the door opener into stopping prematurely. Ensure the rollers are in a good state and lubricate them to prevent this issue.

  1. My Extreme opener has developed a self start problem. When I first installed this opener (also have one on other door works fine) it had a problem, called your company, they said disconnect the push button and they would send another remote controller, that fixed for all this time now it is doing the same thing, taking off on its’ own, up or down. Came home last night, the door was wide open, so I unplugged it, can I get a replacement, I see Menards don’t have any of your openers listed, if nothing else, can I get what I need from you??
